Stripes underfoot

I can hardly believe this, but I've never had a striped floor before.  Never bought a striped rug, and certainly never painted stripes.  I do stripes on walls all the time, but never floors.  I think I've been cheating myself!  I don't need any new rugs, but I've been wanting to re-do my kitchen floors forever. My husband doesn't want to spend the money, so I keep saying I'm going to paint them.  He's really freaked out by that idea (I don't think he appreciates my blossoming DIY skills yet....he's afraid of the outcome, and I can't really say I blame him).  But I'm so sick of the orange wood floors.  I just might have to paint stripes if we can't refinish them soon. If any of you have painted your floors, I'd love to know if you would do it again or if it was a mistake. Anyway, here are some stripes I've been obsessing about looking at lately (first a few rugs I really like, and then some gorgeous painted floors):
