My Dining Room RE-Reveal

Monday, April 2, 2012

After I got my floors done, the black walls weren't working anymore.  I loved the black paint, but the room was just a little dark at night.  And instead of getting new lights installed (which the room really has no recessed lighting), I painted five times experimented with paint.  I'll add lighting some day, but after the expense of the floors, it wasn't in the cards for right now.

I tried several gray paints, and finally settled on BM Coventry Gray.  It is by far the cleanest gray I have ever used - it's perfect - no purple or other undertones.  I also changed the curtains.  Lastly, I added slipcovers with the large racing stripe, like Suzanne Kasler often uses.  (Thank you for the brilliant suggestion so many months ago Kathysue at Good Life of Design!!)

So here it is.  Unfortunately, the opening to the kitchen is just not quite wide enough to let me take a panoramic shot of the whole room at once, so it is in pieces:

I took these yesterday, when the lighting was a little different...I think they are all flash photos:

Oh, and I painted these to go in the empty corners.  I'm not sure my husband is a fan of having them on the  floor, but I kind of like it for now:

Peacock Feathers

Sunday, April 1, 2012

First off, I hit a milestone today, one day before my one year blogging anniversary-- 1000 Facebook followers! Thank you so, so much to ALL of you who visit and's been a great year, and I have you to thank for it :)

So don't you just love my witty and creative post title?  Seriously, I'm just completely drained today, and literally can't think of anything to say, other than that I wanted to show you these cool Etsy stores specializing in Peacock feathers. I hope you think they are as creative and amazing as I do:

WOW! Can you imagine a tablecloth made entirely of feathers? Probably wouldn't last long in my house. I have a very curious six year old :)  But just LOOK at that gorgeous workmanship!

Oh how I wish I had somewhere to wear THIS (my next PTO meeting maybe?) --

And these at Pillows and Totes:

And this at Lab Designs

Is this gorgeous or what? By Gami Works

Again, super cool, but wouldn't last two seconds in my house. By All 4 Brides

Husband, are you reading? I LOVE this (by Paulownias)

So what do you think of peacock feathers?  Here for good, or just a fad?

So my last blog header lasted about 2 1/2 minutes.  And I totally did not have time to be messing with it today, but I love graphic design so much....if I didn't do interiors, I think I'd do graphic design.  Anyway, I hope you like it.

So, here they are, the 50 photos that made my jaw drop this week:
