Hello my friends!! I am so excited to say that I’m back to blogging after a long and difficult, but exciting, couple of months. For those who haven’t read, in a nutshell I moved (downsized), had knee surgery, and went through some other difficult things that required me to take some time off. The move was so hard…. moving after 16 years in one home to a much smaller one is a lot of work. It is very exciting and we are finally settled to an extent, but there is still a lot that I want to do. I’ll show you the four main rooms, tell you what’s to come, and list sources at the end. Here goes:
The goal here was to make it beachy and incorporate the look of sand, water, beach glass, and other elements. Here is the view from the kitchen. I really want a rug (seagrass) but every time I pout one in my dog pees on it and destroys it. Anyway, technically it should have that, like in the last photo of this room (now since removed):
I haven’t had time to steam the curtains yet, but it’s on my list:
This art is from the old house (family room), and I love it here:
.This is the tv project I told you about before, almost finished. The tv is inside that fireplace mantle. The house does not have a fireplace, and although I wouldn’t miss that terribly, I would miss the mantle. So I bought this one and painted the wall black and put the tv inside. You can’t even see it here, which is the goal!
Here it is with the yule log playing on YouTube. Pretty cool, right? I’m very happy with it. (I poorly photoshopped the tv sticker out, which is why one side looks wiggly 🙂
But by far my favorite thing about the room is the light, meant to represent sea glass:
Isn’t that gorgeous??
And the ottoman is a close second for my favorite thing – I couldn’t love it more:
The sofa came yesterday, and I love that, too:
Next, here is the master bedroom. I used the Anthropologie mirror from my old bedroom as the head board, and the light is from my old office:.
My absolute favorite thing about this room is the Ikea storage cabinets:
Many of the things in here were my mom’s, like the alligator bags from the 60s. I also have a handmade purse from the first design show I ever went to, and other things that are really important to me. I love seeing them everyday:
Next, I made this room into a tv room for the kids with a map wall (see the post on that here):
.And the kitchen. I got to design the island and desk myself (and help install!), which was fun:
And a bathroom shot. The rest of the house isn’t ready to show, but hopefully soon…
But the best part of the house is the setting. I’m on a river with about a 6 foot tide, so the scenery changes drastically throughout the day.
This is standing on the porch. Of course those cushions need to be replaced soon. I haven’t had time to do anything out here, so ignore the furniture please!
The second floor of the house has two big bedrooms and a shared bathroom for the kids. Those rooms aren’t ready to show, but hopefully someday soon! They both have water views, which is kind of cool!
