We’ve brought together a skilled team to create our idyllic coastal retreat. The design comprises the main house at the front and two additional structures – an inviting carriage house with a bonus suite over the garage and an artist’s studio/guesthouse – surrounding a courtyard at the back.
This arrangement promotes both family connectivity and personal getaways. Seamlessly integrating indoor and outdoor spaces, the interiors pay subtle homage to the coastal setting, resulting in a waterfront retreat that blends modern innovation with timeless tradition.
Designed for Daily Use
The kitchen stands out with its Monogram Appliances Custom Brass Hood and soft peach cabinetry (painted in Sherwin-Williams’ Corallite, SW 9698), creating a vibrant and inviting atmosphere.
Meanwhile, its functionality is seamlessly integrated by incorporating practical features such as the Monogram Appliances Stainless Steel Warming Drawer, which is skillfully concealed by custom herringbone-patterned panels.
For the flooring, Sherwin-Williams’ Tread-Plex was chosen due to its durability and ability to withstand heavy foot traffic, moisture, and wear from pets. The attention to detail in both design and choice of materials enhances the home’s charm and functionality.
A Classic Appeal
The screened outdoor living room embraced classic elements to give off an authentic Southern porch ambiance. The use of wicker furniture, particularly the Summer Classics Home Soho Woven Lounge Chairs and Sofas, contributes to this timeless feel.
This choice not only adds a coastal touch but also evokes a sense of being on a sailboat or yacht. The combination of well-chosen furnishings and thoughtfully selected fabric amplifies the space’s Southern charm and offers a cozy fireside environment for relaxation and enjoyment.
Nostalgic Summerhouse Feel
The downstairs guest room has that tranquil atmosphere with a calming blue hue. Apart from that, the theme was then extended with the Saybrook Check Spa Blue pattern by Thibaut throughout the space.
The timeless quality of the checkered pattern makes for a very classic choice. But beyond its visual appeal, the first-floor suite also serves a practical purpose. In particular, such a feature enhances the home’s functionality for multigenerational living, reflecting a thoughtful and versatile design approach that caters to various needs.
Practically Maintenance-Free Yard
The yard is adorned with artificial turf for that low-maintenance green space. This offers the convenience of having a green area that requires minimal to no upkeep. The timeless charm of classic Carolina landscaping is infused into the space through the addition of Azaleas sourced from the Southern Living Plant Collection, encapsulating the essence of the region’s botanical aesthetics.
This combination of artificial turf and carefully chosen plantings reflects a thoughtful blend of practicality and traditional Southern appeal in the design.
